The pork tenderloin is an easy cut to use, and my favorite. My family loves my honey BBQ bacon pork tenderloin but I also use other cuts like pork butt, also known as Boston butt for pulled pork sandwiches. It took me a long time to come to enjoy pork but this recipe has become a regular on my monthly menu plan.

I do love recipes that include teriyaki flavors, such as this entree salad and this chicken wings recipe.

Tips and suggestions for making teriyaki pork tenderloin

Don’t confuse pork loin with pork tenderloin. Pork tenderloin is much smaller and more tender than pork loin, which is a larger and tougher cut.

Start by making the simple teriyaki marinade. Reserve part of the marinade before adding the pork tenderloin. Marinate the pork for a minimum of thirty minutes.

For safety, it’s important to cook the pork to an internal temperature of 145°F. Use a meat thermometer to check the temperature in the thickest part of the tenderloin. There will be carryover cooking once you remove it from the oven.

Allowing the pork to rest for 5 to 10 minutes is also important. Resting allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in more tender and flavorful meat.

How do you serve pork tenderloin?

I like to slice the pork tenderloin and either place slices on a plate and top with the homemade teriyaki sauce or move the slices to a platter and top with the sauce. However you serve it, sprinkle some sliced green onions and/ or sesame seeds over the top as garnish. (I prefer onions because the dish needs some color.)

Make it a Meal

We like to serve fried rice or butter noodles with pork. Jasmine riceseasoned rice pilaf, or vegetables like sugar snap peas, green beans with shallots, and twice-baked potatoes would all be delicious alongside this dish.

Can I use a different cut of pork?

Yes! This recipe would also work well using pork chops, but cooking time will vary.

How long should I marinate the pork tenderloin?

Marinate the pork tenderloin for at least 30 minutes and up to 3 hours.

What wine can I serve with teriyaki pork tenderloin?

A nice Pinot Noir or a Chardonnay with big oak undertones.
