Ingredients for Fried Rice without Egg Recipe

All of the simple ingredients you need are readily available. I like to use brown rice but feel free to substitute white rice. These ingredients create delicious flavors for the rice.

The first step is to get everything organized.

  • Chicken Broth – low sodium chicken broth is ok if you’re watching your sodium intake.
  • Soy Sauce – I use regular soy sauce but low sodium soy sauce is also an option.
  • Chopped Fresh Garlic – in a pinch you can use the jarred variety.
  • Red Bell Pepper – Use an orange or yellow pepper if red isn’t available.
  • Instant Brown Rice – You can use white rice if you prefer.
  • Frozen Green Peas – Easy and convenient.
  • Green Onions – Also known as spring onions.
  • Butter – Either salted or unsalted butter works. Use what you have on hand.

How to make this stir fry rice side dish

There is no special equipment necessary to make this no egg fried rice, which is classic Chinese cooking. It’s also great for a busy night because the cooking process is easy.

  • Frying Pan – Non-stick is the best!
  • Wooden Spoon – Or a spatula or tongs to toss the veggies as they sauté.
  • Measuring Spoons and Cups – Dry measure, not wet measure.
  • Cutting Board – Wood or plastic, whatever you prefer to use.
  • Knife – A chef’s knife is the best for chopping green onions and pepper.

Some fried rice recipes call for day-old rice. The reason for this is it’s firmer than freshly cooked rice. Since this recipe uses brown rice it holds up better.

Favorite add-ins

You can certainly change up the recipe and use your favorite rice ad-ins. I like to mix it up by including sauteed sesame seeds, red onions, chopped water chestnuts, other colors of bell peppers, diced carrots, or other fresh veggies. If you need a shortcut, use a mixture of frozen veggies instead of fresh vegetables.

You could also grate in some fresh ginger to elevate the flavor.

This is a rice dish your whole family will enjoy. Fried rice is a great option for a side dish for an easy meal. The natural choices are Asian-inspired and Chinese food recipes. This is a good recipe for my pineapple chicken with teriyaki marinade, chicken stir-fry, Asian grilled shrimp, and beef and broccoli.

For best results reheat fried rice in a skillet or wok. This will redistribute the oils and allow you to break up any clumps of rice.

Soy sauce gives fried rice the most flavor.

Do I cook the rice before stir-frying?

Yes, cook the rice. Follow the recipe as it’s a bit different than other fried rice recipes. Some require advanced cooking of up to a day while others can be used right away.

Leftovers should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

How do you reheat leftover rice?

It’s best to reheat cold rice in a skillet over medium high heat.
