(It’s Another) Tequila Sunrise

If you like this recipe, please share!

The Tequila Sunrise is a classic cocktail that is having new popularity.OK, I know you’re totally singing The Eagles song Tequila Sunrise. I’m singing it as I’m writing this too. Not such a bad song to have stuck in your head, especially if you have the cocktail on the table next to you.

I think a Tequila Sunrise is one of my favorite drinks, probably because it’s so pretty. It looks so tropical and reminds me of one of my favorite trips to the Caribbean. Don’t you love when something reminds you of a special time?

This tequila sunrise is great for sipping by the pool on a hot day. They are easy to make.

Just have the orange juice and tequila mixed then just add ice, pour into your glass and add the grenadine. I like my tequila sunrise with no ice.

I keep my tequila in the freezer, the orange juice is already in the fridge so I shake them up with ice pour into the glass, add the grenadine and enjoy. If you like ice, pour the tequila/ orange juice mixture over the ice then add the grenadine. The trick to getting the color separation is to slowly pour in the grenadine and let it settle before serving.

I hope you’ll check out the other cocktails below in the summer cocktail series, hosted by Michelle at Weekend Craft. Plus I have more summer cocktails including frozen peach margaritas, a sparkling bay breeze and cantaloupe wine slushie.

Yield: 2 servings
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes

The Tequila Sunrise is a classic cocktail that is having new popularity.

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces silver tequila
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • Dash of grenadine for each glass
  • Orange slices for garnish
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker combine ice tequila and orange juice. Shake a few times and strain into 2 cocktail glasses. Carefully add a dash of grenadine to each glass. About ½ teaspoon. Do not mix. Serve

Notes

I prefer my Tequila Sunrise with no ice in the glass. Shaking it with ice in the cocktail shaker gets it cold. You can also keep your tequila in the freezer. If you prefer ice in your glass. Mix the orange juice and tequila together pour over ice and add the grenadine.

A Tequilla Sunrise is one of my all time favorite drinks. The song reminds me of my aunt who was a huge Eagles fan. Thanks for putting a smile on my face this morning! The drink looks fabulous
