Ingredients for this Peanut Butter Blossom Recipe
All of the ingredients are readily available at your grocery store.
- Peanut Butter Cookie Mix – A 17.5 ounce package is what I used. It was the Betty Crocker brand.
- Vegetable Oil – Or canola oil, but you need a neutral oil.
- Water
- Large Egg
- Hershey’s Kisses – I used milk chocolate kisses but you could also use the dark chocolate Hershey kiss variety.
- Green Decorating Icing – I use store-bought pre-made icing in the packets. I found them in the baking aisle.
- Holiday Nonpareils – I used the red, white, and green mix but use any holiday combination you like, including pastels.
Equipment
- Electric Mixer – I used a stand mixer with the paddle attachment but a hand mixer will do the job as well.
- Cookie Scoop – I used a small tablespoon size, about 1-inch balls, because these cookies spread a bit.
- Cookie Sheet – Use the rimmed type so nothing falls off.
- Silicone Mat – Or parchment paper but you want to line your baking sheets.
- Cooling Rack – Cool the cookies on a wire rack before storing them.
- Small Cookie Spatula – The perfect tool for moving the cookies from the baking sheet to the wire rack.

Tips and Suggestions for Making Blossom Cookies
- Place the peanut butter cookie dough balls at least 2-inches apart.
- When the cookies go into the oven, unwrap the Hershey’s Kisses. You need to work quickly putting the kisses on top of the cookie. The Kisses press more easily into warm cookies.
- Gently press the kiss into the center of each cookie, you don’t want to go through the bottom of the cookie.
- For best results cool the cookies completely before decorating.
How do you store peanut butter blossoms?
Store these decorated cookies in a single layer in airtight containers for up to 4 days. Freezing is not recommended as the chocolate candy kiss may bloom.
