Ingredients for Candy Bar Brownies
All you need are five ingredients and about 40 minutes to make this delicious treat.
- Boxed Brownie Mix – I used Ghirardelli Supreme Brownie Mix, the 18.75 ounce size
- Large egg
- Vegetable Oil
- Water
- Hershey Milk Chocolate Candy Bars – I used the 7.56 ounce size
- Cooking Spray with Flour
Tips and Suggestions
- I don’t suggest adding in any extras such as nuts or more chocolate chips. If you want nuts, use Hershey bars with almonds. Symphony candy bars come in various flavors with nuts and toffee.
- Don’t skip lining your baking pan with foil and spraying it with a baking spray with flour. Trust me on this one.
- The candy bars should be in a single layer on top of the brownie batter.
- Try other candy bars such as Nestle Crunch bars or Kit Kats. Kit Kats probably won’t result in the delicious gooey center, but could be a fun experiment.
- Cool the brownies completely before slicing so the center can set.

How do you serve chocolate filled brownies?
Serve the brownies at room temperature for the ultimate gooey center. Keeping the candy bar brownies in the refrigerator will cause the center to harden, making them difficult to enjoy.
If you want an extra indulgent treat, use a slice of candy bar brownies as the base of a sundae. Add a scoop of ice cream, some hot fudge, and whipped cream to take dessert to the next level.
How do you store brownies stuffed with chocolate bars?
Store candy bar brownies in an airtight container, separated by layers of parchment paper, at room temperature for up to 4 days.

More delicious brownie recipes
Brownies in cookie form are always a hit, like these brownie mix cookies or gluten-free brownie cookies. Touchdown turtle brownie bites or ultimate chocolate brownies are perfect for game day parties. I have so many recipes that we consider to be the best brownies!
Can I use any brownie mix?
The Ghirardelli mixes are better for making brownies in a 9×13 pan than most other brands. Use one that has directions for making them in a 9×13 pan. One without added chocolate chips is best.
What candy bars work best?
Flat candy bars, such as Hershey Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate or Symphony bars, work the best. Candy like Snickers or Milky Way won’t work.
Will the candy bars sink to the bottom?
As long as you have half the brownie batter on the bottom and the rest of the batter covering the candy, they will stay in the middle.
