Alex’s Double Chocolate White Chip Cookies Recipe
My son needed cookies for a party at school and I had little time to bake so I handed him a cake mix and set him loose in the kitchen. So, Alex’s Double Chocolate White Chip Cookies were born.

A Few Words from Alex
I love to bake. Desserts like cookies or brownies, and baking with my mom is one of my favorite things to do around the holidays. It’s a tradition we continue even now that I’m in college.
When I was younger, my brother and I would dip marshmallows and pretzel sticks in chocolate my Mom melted. It was an easy way for her to get us in the kitchen. As we got older, we moved into making different things. Of all things, cookies are my favorite thing to make.
Mint, chocolate chip, or even oatmeal cookies, I love them all. This cookie, Alex’s double chocolate white chip cookie, is a chocolate cookie with white and semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Some of my other favorites include Andes cream de menthe chunk cookies and Black forest cookies.
Why you’ll love Double Chocolate White Chip Cookies
- Double Chocolate Cookies are extremely easy to make, starting with a cake mix that requires very little prep or baking time.
- This is a cookie you can serve all year long, not just at Christmas time.
- Customize double white chocolate chip cookies easily to your tastes. Check the suggestions below for ideas.
Ingredients for this chocolate cookie recipe
- Chocolate Cake Mix – I used a Devil’s Food cake mix. I think the fudge variety would also work.
- Large Eggs
- Vegetable Oil – Use only a neutral oil. Canola oil would be another good choice.
- Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- White Chocolate Chips – You can use white chocolate chunks if you prefer.
Equipment
- Electric Mixer – I use a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment but if you have a hand mixer, that will get the job done too.
- Cookie Scoop – either a small or medium scoop will work.
- Rimmed Cookie Sheet
- Silicone Baking Mat – or parchment paper but you’ll need to line your baking sheet.
- Measuring Cups – you’ll need both wet and dry measuring cups.
- Oven Mitts
- Cooling Rack

Tips and Suggestions for Double Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Use a cookie scoop to portion out the cookie dough. Once you put the dough ball on the prepared cookie sheet, top the cookies with extra white chocolate chips and semisweet chocolate chips.
- For larger, bakery-style cookies use a larger cookie scoop. You’ll need to adjust your baking time by one or two minutes.
- For best results, place cookie sheets into a preheated oven.
- Substitute dark chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips for the milk chocolate.
- Add some chopped pecans or walnuts for added texture.
How Do You Store Double Chocolate Cookies?
Store these double chocolate white chip cookies in a single layer in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
