Bourbon Peach Tea

Bourbon peach tea is a refreshing drink on a hot summer day but it’s also the perfect alternative to a mint julep for the Kentucky Derby.

Pin Bourbon Peach Tea to make later.

Bourbon Peach Tea

For as long as I can remember I have been a fan of the Kentucky Derby and horse racing. Attending the race, also known as the run for the rose, is on my bucket list.

Kentucky is well known for bourbon. The official drink of the Derby is the mint julep, something I really don’t like. Plus you need special glasses for the drink. So in honor of the Derby I’m making Bourbon Peach Tea.

If you live in the south you probably make your own iced tea. I do. My husband prefers sweet and because I like unsweet, I keep unsweet on hand. While you could probably make this beverage with sweet tea, it might be too sweet.

If you don’t keep tea in your refrigerator, you can certainly buy some for this drink. There are many commercial brands and some stores sell it by the gallon. My grocer has unsweet in the deli area.

I also seem to be on a peach kick lately. Between peaches, bourbon, and iced tea I’m not sure you can get much more of a southern cocktail. This drink is refreshing and a delicious choice for your Derby day party.

If you love bourbon and are looking for more drinks try my honey bourbon hot toddy to warm up on a cold day or maple bourbon sour.

Enjoy a bourbon peach tea while sitting on the front porch.

  1. This sounds so refreshing, It would be great if the temperature would get out of the 50″s today. Its a little cold for the Derby! I will be making this soon.

  2. Thanks so much for hosting this event, Ellen. I love iced tea and drink it all the time here. The first time I travelled south, many many moons ago, and ordered iced tea I was so surprised by my first sip. In Michigan, all iced tea is unsweet. I had never even heard of sweet tea. I’m with you….give me the unsweet tea and pass the bourbon!!!
