I just love the look of these sprinkle chocolate chip cookies. They are so festive with red, green, and white confetti sprinkles. I’m kind of a sucker for red and green sprinkles. Really, sprinkles, in general. I’m a traditional Christmas colors gal – red and green all the way.
Why Chocolate Chip Sprinkle Cookies Are Perfect for Christmas
Christmas cookies are a holiday tradition, bringing family and friends together in the kitchen. These chocolate chip sprinkle cookies are extra special because they combine the classic chocolate chip cookie everyone loves with colorful confetti sprinkles that add a festive touch.
- This recipe starts with a cake mix plus a few other simple ingredients.
- Lots of sprinkles! I used confetti sprinkles which are the flat round type but you could use rainbow jimmies or your favorite sprinkles if you prefer.
- The recipe makes three dozen cookies.

What ingredients do I need for sprinkle chocolate chip cookies
Get the full recipe with amounts and instructions in the recipe card below.
- White Cake Mix
- Egg Whites – save the yolks for another use. Use large eggs for the whites.
- All Purpose Flour
- Vegetable Oil – or another neutral oil.
- Milk Chocolate Chips – or you can use semi-sweet chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips
- Confetti Type Sprinkles – I used Christmas confetti sprinkles for the holiday but feel free to use rainbow for other occasions such as birthday cookies.
Equipment
- Stand Mixer – use the paddle attachment. Use a hand mixer if you don’t have a stand mixer.
- Small Ice Cream Scoop – I like the teaspoon size for this recipe. Also called a cookie scoop.
- Rubber Spatula – for scraping down the side of the mixing bowl.
- Cookie Sheet – baking sheets with rims so nothing falls off.
- Silicone Baking Mat – or parchment paper. Either works fine.
- Oven Mitts – so you don’t burn yourself.
- Wire Cooling Rack – transfer the cookies once they’ve cooled a few minutes on the baking sheet.
- Small Cookie Spatula – An easy way to move the cookies from the baking sheet to the cooling rack.

Tips and Suggestions
I’ve made these cookies a few times so I’ve learned a few things along the way.
- For prettier cookies, put the colorful sprinkles and more chocolate chips on top of the cookies.
- These cookies make a great party favor for birthday parties or Christmas dinner parties.
- These cookies have great texture between the cakey cookie, sweet chocolate chips and crunchy sprinkles.
- Don’t overbeat the mixture. Just beat to combine the ingredients.
Can I use a different flavor cake mix for chocolate chip sprinkle cookies?
Absolutely! I would suggest a yellow cake mix. The sprinkles may not show if you use a chocolate cake mix.
How do you store chocolate chip cookies with sprinkles?
You can store them in an airtight container in the freezer for up to one month. They keep on the counter in an airtight container for three to four days.
