This best cornbread recipe has been our favorite for years but it was time for something a little different. After a trip to New England and purchases that included maple syrup, I had to find a way to use it all. Real, pure maple syrup, not pancake syrup. So, when we got home, the first thing I made with the maple syrup was this maple cornbread.

What can I serve with cornbread?
Maple cornbread is one of those recipes that is versatile enough to serve with a variety of dishes, especially a big bowl of chili. I serve it with everything from chicken fried chicken, vegetable beef stew, and chicken noodle soup to award-winning stovetop chili, this ground beef chili recipe, and white chicken chili. It would also be delicious with Mexican recipes such as crockpot taco soup.
Favorite ways to serve cornbread
- When I serve this maple cornbread I like to put a pat of butter on a warm slice and then pour some additional warm maple syrup over it.
- A hot honey drizzle takes cornbread to the next level.
- Slather some whipped pumpkin spice honey butter on a warm slice of cornbread.

We love cornbread and these cornbread muffins are one of our favorite recipes. If you like this maple cornbread, other flavored varieties include Pumpkin cornbread and Sweet Potato Cornbread.
How do you store cooled cornbread?
Leftover cornbread can be sticky so store it in a single layer either on a plate covered with aluminum foil or in an airtight container on the counter. No need to refrigerate it.
How do you reheat cornbread?
The best way to reheat cornbread is in the oven. Wrap a slice in aluminum foil, and bake it at a low temperature 300°F for about 10 to 15 minutes until warmed through.

Just finished making this, and WOW! Whole family can’t stop snacking on it. Suppose to be for dinner. Might not make it to the table. Great flavors. Light. Just a touch of sweetness from the maple syrup.
So glad you and your family enjoyed it, Chris!
Love the idea of using maple syrup in cornbread. I always feel cornbread needs a hint of sweetness (don’t tell my MIL).
I won’t! 😉
