Why We Love This Mixed Berry Sangria Recipe

Sangria is a quintessential drink that people forget about when entertaining. I know when I serve it I get comments like, “I never think to serve sangria for a party” or “I love sangria and I never make it”.

But you should make it because it’s so easy!

  • This white wine berry sangria recipe uses just a few ingredients.
  • You can use Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc.
  • Makes enough for a few glasses with friends.
  • Easily scale this summer berry sangria recipe for a crowd and serve in a large pitcher.
  • Uses frozen summer berries that won’t dilute the sangria.
  • You make this berry sangria without brandy.

Whether you’re spending lazy days by the pool or entertaining friends with a backyard cookout this mixed berry sangria is the perfect beverage choice.

It’s really perfect at any time of year and would be very festive for the holidays.

How to Make Berry Sangria

Typically a sangria is made with red wine, various fruits, a few other ingredients, and sometimes spirits.

Sangria is one of the most popular drinks in Spanish cuisine.

Sangria Blanca, or white wine sangria, is a more recent innovation. Red sangria can be traced back to the 18th century but white sangria began to make an appearance in the mid-1960s.

This mixed berry sangria recipe uses white wine, orange liqueur, and berries.

I like to make white sangria with a pinot grigio. It’s not sweet and can stand up to adding sweeter ingredients, like the orange liqueur here.

You could also use sauvignon blanc if you don’t have pinot grigio. Start with a chilled bottle of wine.

While you could use fresh fruit, I prefer to use frozen so the wine stays cooler longer. Frozen berries act as ice without diluting the beverage.

Mixed Berry Sangria Ingredients

If you have a well-stocked bar at home and keep frozen berries in your freezer, you should have all the ingredients necessary to make this sangria with berries.

  • White Wine – Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc
  • Orange Liqueur – Such as Grand Marnier
  • Frozen Mixed Berries – Raspberries, Strawberries, Blueberries
  • Simple Syrup

This is an easy recipe that takes very little time to make.

How to serve berry sangria

Since sangria is made with wine, I like to serve it in wine glasses. Berries will inevitably fall into the glass when you pour it but be sure to have additional berries on hand to add to the glasses.
