What do I need to make a cranberry orange mimosa?
- Cranberry juice
- Orange juice – I prefer no pulp and it makes for a prettier drink
- Sparkling wine – Champagne, Sparkling Wine, Cava, Prosecco
What is the best wine to use in a mimosa?
Mimosas are made with sparkling wine and the simple answer is to use what you enjoy drinking. Personally, I love Prosecco, which is an Italian sparkling wine and often less expensive than Champagne.
All I had on hand was a Brut. Use what you like, use what you have. Champagne, Cava, California sparkling, or Prosecco all work for this champagne cocktail.
What is the difference between a mimosa and a bellini?
Both mimosas and bellinis are popular brunch cocktails. While the mimosa is probably better known and served more often, the bellini is just as sophisticated.
There are more similarities than there are differences between the two drinks. Both cocktails have a fruit base and sparkling wine.
The difference is a mimosa uses juice, usually orange juice and a bellini uses puree, typically peach, though more flavors have recently become popular.
Can you use fresh orange juice in a mimosa?
While it’s perfectly fine to use fresh orange juice to make mimosas just consider the pulp. Some people do not enjoy pulp, I’m one of those people, so try to offer a variety of types.
If you really want to stick with fresh juice maybe strain the pulp and offer the juice in pitchers on a make-your-own mimosa bar.
How do you serve a mimosa?
Mimosas are traditionally served in champagne flutes. I prefer to use a stemmed flute rather than a stemless glass because the heat from your hand will warm up the drink.
A simple garnish of an orange wedge and a few frozen or cold whole cranberries make an elegant presentation. Plus the addition of the frozen cranberries will help keep the cranberry orange mimosa chilled.
Don’t serve a mimosa with ice. All of the ingredients should be well chilled. You could even chill glasses.
