This collection of Easy Sandwiches and Wraps for College Students has a little something for everyone. College is a transition for both students and parents and parents want to make sure their kids are eating well.

This recipe round-up is a great way to save money if you have a reduced meal plan option. Many college dorms allow refrigerators and some have common area kitchens.

If your student lives off campus, it’s even easier to make these recipes!

If your student has a fridge in their dorm room, many of these easy sandwiches and wraps can be made for a quick lunch between classes or light dinner. No stove is necessary.

If your child lives off campus all of these sandwiches and wraps are easily doable in an apartment kitchen. There are some recipes in this round-up perfect for those students too. Plus if you have an ambitious student who likes to make bread, the website Karen’s Kitchen Stories has a plethora of amazing from-scratch bread recipes.

How to Shop for These Recipes

As long as your dorm room has a refrigerator, you’ll be able to make these easy sandwiches and wraps. You can either shop at your nearby grocery store or have items delivered through Instacart.

When you need deli meats you can either get packaged meats or go to the deli and just get what you need sliced. Packaged deli meats are in resealable containers so you can easily store them.

Purchasing a rotisserie chicken or chicken pieces already cooked in the deli make preparation easier.

Most grocery store bakeries sell hoagie rolls, croissants, and other rolls individually so you can buy a few at a time. Many bakeries will also sell half loaves of bread reducing waste.

Tools for Easy Sandwiches and Wraps

With just a few items kept in the dorm room, these recipes can be made in no time.

  • Cutting Board – A plastic board is the better choice for this situation. You don’t want one that’s too big. A smaller one is easier to store.
  • Storage Containers – You’ll want some plastic storage containers for leftovers. They can also be used to mix things like chicken salad or egg salad.
  • Knife – A knife could be a tricky utensil to have in a dorm. A small blade is all you need.
  • Spreader – You’ll use this for mayonnaise, mustard, and other condiments. I prefer a long-handle spreader.
  • Can Opener – If you buy cans of tuna or chicken you’ll definitely need a hand-held can opener.

Plan your Menu

Take a look at the week you have ahead and plan which of the easy sandwiches and wraps you’ll make that week. Take an inventory of what you have on hand as far as condiments, vegetables, deli meats, and bread or tortillas.

Once you have your inventory, you can plan your menu. To minimize waste, use up what you have.

Easy Sandwiches

You may look at some of these recipes and think you can’t cook chicken or hard boil eggs. Not to worry! Rotisserie chicken is an economical item that’s usually found in your grocery store deli area. Sometimes you can just buy pieces but that will be a bit more expensive.

You can also buy canned chicken and tuna to use in the recipes, just make sure you have that can opener!

Hard-boiled eggs can also be purchased either in the deli or near where eggs are sold in dairy.

If you have access to a slow cooker, you could purchase some chicken breasts and make slow cooker pulled chicken, which would work in many of these easy sandwiches and wraps recipes.

Many of these recipes are perfect for work or school lunches too!
