All Hallow's Eve Orange Cake combines the classic flavors of chocolate and orange.Halloween holds a special place in my family. It’s my husband’s birthday. Though the years I’ve made a variety of birthday cakes for him. Recently he wanted to bake a cake he remembered from his childhood, an orange cake. All Hallow’s Eve Orange Cake came about because sweet hubby couldn’t find the orange cake me his remembered his Mom making. Three grocery stores later, no luck.

So, together, we remedied the situation. We started with a white cake mix, then added orange extract and finally orange food coloring. Well, success in the first try! The chocolate icing was the perfect match since chocolate and orange are a classic flavor combination. My husband was so tickled with himself, he talked about it for a week.

By now you may be thinking why is her husband making cake? The simple answer is he enjoys it too. When we met 26 years ago, on our third date, he made me dinner, scallops with pesto pasta. A pesto he made from scratch, I might add.

From time to time he does make treats and a few times a week he helps with dinner too, especially grilling. It’s something he enjoys too and I welcome the help.

  1. I remember this orange cake. It was probably the Duncan Hines one, which you can still get at some places if not online. But no need since you have it scoped out for us. Looks yum!

  2. Happy Birthday to your Hubby. Mine is also a huge help around the kitchen. He often makes dinner. He usually makes any breakfasts that need cooking and he is king of the grill.
