Hot Dog Breadsticks

Hot dog breadsticks are a fun way to get kids in the kitchen.

It’s Taste of Home Tuesday and I’m sharing Hot Dog Breadsticks. There is not an easier recipe to make. In fact, this recipe is so simple, kids can definitely help make it. If they are younger kids, make sure they are only making the hot dog breadsticks and supervise the baking. Even 3 year olds can wrap the hot dogs with the breadsticks. I have found in my family when I invite my boys into the kitchen, they are more likely to try what they have made or helped make. My oldest discovered he liked strawberries after helping me make a pound cake that I topped with berries for dessert.

I eventually did find Pillsbury breadsticks but it wasn’t easy. If you are having trouble finding them, use refrigerated crescent rolls. Just put one hot dog on the long end of each crescent triangle and roll up. Like a giant pig in a blanket! If your kids are involved in after school activities, these are great for a quick dinner on a busy night or a weekend lunch.

  2. These look tasty and remind me of the “Pigs in a Blanket” my mom sometimes made for us when I was a kid. Combined with a salad, they would make a quick, delicious dinner or lunch. Thanks for sharing!

  3. i love a hot dog every once in a while! i’ve seen these turned into mummies for Halloween which was so cute too!

  4. Mom used to make these when I was a kid. Sometimes a little rough and sometimes very tender, fluffy dough. She made them from scratch.

  5. This brings back memories of making crescent dogs for my kids when they were younger. This is definitely a kid-friendly recipe for making and eating!

  6. My kids are also way more likely to try something that they help make. In this case though, they’d probably take a hot dog wrapped in breadsticks from a stranger! Seriously though, they’d love these!
